The Archeology of Her Smile

The Archeology Of Her Smile Poem

” I love you “

These words that he said

A thousand lifetimes ago.

A thousand women weeping

A thousand flowers burned.

The poem,

Just written for someone, somewhere

Once.

Beloved

A wife

A daughter

A love.

About the archeology of her smile,

About her hidden voice,

The joyful noise of her child

Or just the way she laughed,

Poised, in the mirror

Or running thru the grass

Or thru the fields

Of forever.

For these words

Were said, were written

 A thousand lifetimes ago,

A thousand women weeping

A thousand flowers burned.

The poem,

Just written for someone, somewhere

Once.

About the archeology of her smile,

About the way she loved

About the life she lived with you

About the world she touched

For this is her true story

Written in the voices of each life.

Civilization, man or woman

And of their rise or fall.

For without her or her

Beauty, her eyes, or her smile?

Why there would be

No “his-story” ever written

At all.

IN THE KINGDOM OF NIGHT (Be Thankful)

Night

Be thankful.

For round you,

Thy life there is a world

Without conscience

Without light.

To;

All thee who live

And all thee who strive

Strife may not as yet

Have touched your bones.

So

Be thankful.

For the lark & the light

And the music of the night

And its kingdom.

So far from the dark

And apart from those times

A better world that

Is still trying

To be a better world.

So

Be thankful.

For the child, and the heart

And the happiness & time

The seasons and the soul and

The hope that our kind,

Keeps.

So

Give thanks.

For in the true

Kingdom of Night

There is no love to find,

No beauty, no truth no meaning

And no time

No time

To live

Or be

Or love

Or find

You.

So

Be thankful

For it is not merely

The act of being alive,

Survival

But for that which

Keeps you alive,

Against the storms

Against the hard times

“Faith”

For among the ruins

There is a shining diamond

A star within the wreckage

Waiting to be found

So be thankful

That the daylight shines

For you

Each morning

And that the moon

Remains to remind

That time, life

Is merely a passing dream

And that the night

Good or bad

Shall eventually pass

For good.

The Queen Of Hearts

aceofhearts

They say in Deadwood

Hickok’s final hand included the aces &

eights of both black suits,

A Deadman’s Hand, a 5 card draw

And that death came with it,

But in life it all depends

Upon the cards

That you are dealt.

For I’ve seen the world thru

A narrow glass,

An empty glass

And a terrible glance

That revealed all the best &

The worst…

The worst oh love

The worst kind of chance

In life.

For you can dance with the devil

In the pale moonlight,

You can save & save and work

all your life. And hope… And pray or

Spend. But either way the man

Will come a knocking soon

No matter what… in the end.

For your life can be a million things but

It all depends on you.

For luck is only half the game,

And the rest is up to you.

Because the truth?

Is that you are not

Completely, supremely, or eternally fucked or

Somehow destined to self destruct

But everyone you love will fall in the end

No matter what you do.

So the best kind of dance?

Your best card to chance?

Is always the ace of hearts.

For this, these words are both

A warning and a blessing,

A little bit of wisdom from a man

Whose words will stay true.

That your mind & heart

Must find a chart to

Plot your course upon.

So

Find a love thats

True, find a soul thats real

And that will never let you down.

And that heart my friend

Is your ace.

So no matter what?

Treat her right.

Rich or poor

Old or young

Thru good times or bad.

 Because all life really

Is based upon on how you play the cards

And the winner always

Takes all…
