  • Doomed In Vanity A Poem, R.M. Engelhardt

    DOOMED IN VANITY

    The Voices

    Storming all
    The castle walls
    From all directions
    Places & homes
    With words

    Phrases

    It’s now all a game

    Like chess
    Or maybe checkers

    Check Mate

    Human cadavers
    Human wretch &
    Apathy

    Popularity

    Writhing

    Across the board

    Some?

    The gatekeepers
    The storms
    The lost
    & faithful souls

    All the believers
    And the vultures

    Searching
    Trolling

    Looking for a bite

    To eat

    All doomed In vanity
    They all pray to their
    Gods of celebrity

    Looking for more followers

    Worshippers in
    Dark

    Follow me
    Follow me

    Follow us

    Into a lost
    Void

    Of lost chasm
    Of words

    Never heard
    Never seen

  • The Gathering – R.M. Engelhardt

    THE GATHERING

    All candles lit

    In the dark room

    The ritual begins

    With smoke,

    The ceremony

    A series of words summoning

    Invoking the voices

    Of The Dead

    More than a mere event

    The table a

    Connection

    Holding hands

    The seance begins

    Are you here?

    Are you with us?

    Show us

    A sign

    A single Fall

    Autumn leaf

    Both orange &

    Red sweeps across

    The table from no

    Where

    Perhaps it’s a small

    Coincidence the wind

    Reminding us that the

    Time is near

    The veil

    Grows thin

    Upon this forgotten

    Night

    We beseech thee

    Show Thyself !

    The Doorbell

    Rings

  • Have You Found Jesus? A Poem, R.M. Engelhardt

    HAVE YOU FOUND JESUS?

    Excuse me but …

    Have You Found Jesus?

    Yes

    He was wandering
    Homeless through the park so
    I bought him a slice
    Of pizza

    Have You Found Jesus?

    Yes

    He was freezing outside
On the street in an old
    Sleeping bag
    In thirty degree weather old
    With no job or dreams
    Or stories left to tell

    Have You Found Jesus?

    Yes

He was working as a barista
    At Starbucks trying just
    To pay the rent

    Selling meth on the side

    Have You Found Jesus?

    Yes

    He was at a protest
    Beating the shit out
Of a proud boy in self defense
    And was arrested & put
    Away for 20 years for
    Doing the right thing
    While the proud boy only
    Got 5

    Have You Found Jesus?

    Yes

He was down on Wall Street
    Spraying graffiti on all the
Statues and Icons, with a holy message
    Which said:

” Feed The Fucking Poor !”

    Have You Found Jesus?

    Yes

    They found him dead
And hanging from a large cross
    In every place & church
His blood still flowing flooding all the streets
And alleyways and in every corner
    Of the world washing away
All of the war, crime & hate & pain

But you see, none of these things
    Ever really happened

    Because Jesus was
    Never found
Never died for all our sins

    Because Jesus was
Just a man, just another human being
Who got killed by other men

And made a tortured example that the
    Twisted power of twisted men
    Will always rule
    The earth

    And that Jesus
    Buddha or any
    Other enlightened
    Beings

    Will be destroyed
    Decimated, interrogated
    Assisinated or burned
    At the stake
    For every living soul

    To see

    To watch

    In fear

    Of speaking up

    So excuse me sir but

    Have You Found Jesus?
    Our savior?
    Our friend?

    And I reply

    Why Yes!

I just had a serious talk with him
Just last week on the bus

    He smelled like BO
    With garlic & long hair
And he told me to tell you this:

    That there’s a real fucking
    World out there beyond your
    Fucking brainwashed
    Mind hive blinders

    There’s poor people
    There’s disabled people
    There’s elderly people
    There’s racism, facism &
    Groups of insane assholes
    Trying to destroy the world

    Trying to destroy love
    Democracy & your right
To believe in the God you
    Want to believe in

So do you still want to find Jesus?

    He says;

    Look for me out there
    I’m in everybody
    Who truly fucking cares

    Fighting against the monsters
The greedy, the rich and the
    And real bastards who would
    Kill, murder and steal everything
    You love and own

    For a single fucking dollar

    But?

    If you see him?

    Tell him I said

    “Hi”

  • LEWISTON. ~ R.M. Engelhardt

    LEWISTON

    They said:

    18 people were killed
    13 others were injured

    They said:

    Stay inside

    Lock all your doors

    Pray for others

    Stay safe

    But what door
    What prayer
    And what God
    Will save you?

    Against a
    Hail of bullets
    Ripping through
    The darkness of
    The night?

    Taking away all
    The living

    All their lives

    They say

In one of the safest states
    In the nation

    They said
    They said
    They said

    As the dead
    Lay on the ground
    As evidence

That no one is ever safe

    At all

  • Of Poems & Incantations

Poems meet the raw needs of our most vulnerable inner selves in a disarmingly primal way, using a simple tool no other sort of language mobilises in quite the same manner: predictable, physical, rhythmical repetition. Poetry chants and incants; it excites and lulls.

    ~ Annie Finch

    https://psyche.co/ideas/how-poetry-casts-a-spell-through-the-rhythmic-magic-of-metre

If you examine the highest poetry in the light of common sense, you can only say that it is rubbish; and in actual fact you cannot so examine it at all, because there is something in poetry which is not in the words themselves, which is not in the images suggested by the words ‘O windy star blown sideways up the sky!’ True poetry is itself a magic spell which is a key to the ineffable.

  • META-CRISIS RADIO SILENCE ~ A Poem R.M. Engelhardt

    META-CRISIS RADIO SILENCE

    Good Evening

We are just experiencing a few technical difficulties

    But no worries

    Just ignore it all

The burning & the lethal flow
The weather just a little bit off but no
Nothing to worry about here at all no
No no no not a thing not at all as the leaves falling
    From the trees in the
    Fall without turning changing colors
    Seem unnoticable to
The average tax payers eye hearing the false
Phantasms of an overactive imagination as
The widening gyre & the magical whirl
Of our machinery makes capitalism such a

    BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL

    FUCKING

    THING

    Nope!

Everything is just grand & fine
Here in America our proud country
Other countries and the world and …
No, Hey don’t listen to that annoying
    Little girl because she’s just
    Brainwashed & full of
    Shhhhhhh ….

    (CENSORED)

    But don’t worry

We are only experiencing a few
    Minor technical difficulties

    Such as

    All the animals
    Mysteriously disappearing as
The oceans full of trash are
Running out of fish as the desecrated
    Amazon forest meets it’s
    Untimely demise and the great
Leaders all like to remind us
    And continuously say

    All is well
    All is well
    Trust me
    We’re fixing this
    We’ve got this

    TRUST ME

    And stop listening
    To everyone else because

    It’ll get fixed
    It’s already fixed say

    Tomorrow

    Next week

    Next month

    Next year

    Ok, ummm …
    Give us a decade
    Or so maybe
    100 years
    No worries
    Our kids will fix it
    Their kids will fix it
    Elon Musk will fix it
    Jesus will fix it
Jesus & Elon Musk and in the
God we trust will fix it all

    Because
    A brighter tomorrow is
    A miracle is just
    Waiting to be received

    But no worries

    Really. We are only
    Experiencing a few small
    Technical difficulties

    Like, for instance
    Trying to figure out what
    Figures & the amount that
    Mass graves, no growing food
& a mass extinction will cost us

Like which countries that will all
Start to burn in the noon day sun 1st
So we can start growing & selling those
Same exported crops at a much much
    Higher price

    So TRUST US!

    We LOVE YOU!

    We CARE !

    We are your friends
    & neighbors American Corporations
And we are the one’s who control your
    False democracy without you knowing
    A thing and … Oops!

    (RADIO SILENCE)

    II.

    Good Morning!

We are just experiencing a few
    Technical difficulties

    The air today is somewhat
    Breathable but as always
    Don’t forget your masks

And please remain at your work
Stations as our new plan of
    Hope goes into effect

    Marshall law food
    Rationing and
    All healthcare only
    Affordable by the rich

    Clean water?
    Our filters recycle
    Everything

    And by the way?

That little girl who told us
    Outlandish stories years
Ago trying to save the earth
    Has passed away

    Sadly, a suicide
    Insanity

    No truth at all

    By the way?
    For your safety
    We have all your
    Personal information

    Your parents
    Your friends

    Your children’s

    Because?

    Remember:

    WE CARE

  • I Know … R.M. Engelhardt

I know who sleeps, who walks by night, who thrives and who does not. I hear the music as they waltz under the eyes of the man in the moon, the wind dancing towards the darkness. I know the reason and the rhyme and the silence, the signs of prophecy, I know of all their dreams and nightmares that shall unfold.

Telegraphic missives from the bleak future of now taking in spirit machine and blood . A faint hope beyond hopelessness still guiding the words .

    MAN

    I
    Am
    The
    Great
    Vulture
    A
    Bird
    Of
    Prey
    Flying
    In
    Circles
    Going
    Nowhere
    Killing
    Everything
    I
    See
    Especially
    The
    Weak
    The
    Disabled
    The
    Injured
    The
    Ones
    Who
    Aren’t
    Like
    Me

    And
    When
    All
    Those
    Souls
    Are
    Gone
    I’ll
    Find
    New
    Ones
    To
    Feed
    Upon
    Even
    My
    Own
    Reflection
    Until
    There
    Is
    Nothing

    Left
