EDGAR
Whilst thou write a
“Happy Poem” today?
Edgar’s wife says
Smiling from her
Chair
Edgar’s eyes roll
Slightly shakes his
Head
Edgar is too serious
Edgar never slept
And somewhere
Off in the distance
A raven poops on
A child merrily
Skipping down a
Garden path
Singing
It is fit.
EDGAR’S WIFE
After Edgar’s wife
Passed away they say
He grieved
So powerfully that
God above cried along
With him because his
Words were more than
God could
Even take
For
Edgar invoked
All of the world’s
Melancholy & sadness
Like an ocean of woe
Never before seen
With one single tear
And a pen
And the angels &
Even the demons wept
Knowing that his existence
Had now changed the earth
This world
Forever
EDGAR SOMETIMES
Sometimes feels
Like he’s going insane
Broke without anyone
Left in this world keeps writing
And writing and writing but
Doesn’t Seem appreciated
By other writers except for
Baudelaire
Will all this madness
Sadness ever end!? Edgar asks, looks
Up to the heavens and cries
But doesn’t realize that the poem
Is the writer and the writer the poem
That the poem on a dark stormy night
Is …. Himself
But Edgar sometimes surmises that his fate
Has already been decided and that old death
Is waiting for him in some dark alleyway
In a bad area of Baltimore . He feels it. He smells it .
Death, the conqueror of all. Oh to be with her again,
Dancing under the blanket, the moon & stars
Sometimes Edgar feels
Like he’s going insane
Broke without anyone
Left in this world keeps writing
And writing and writing
Until
He is no more
And has disappeared.
Like a ghost
