WARREN ZEVON IS STILL ALIVE

Waiting for the bus 18
Yesterday a man drove past
Me in a black car with grayish blond
Ponytail hair, a bandana & dark shades on

And as he drove by me
He said :

” Hey man, cool Ray Bans!”

Referring to the sunglasses
I was wearing as I exhaled
The smoke from my clove cigarette

And then
He also said:

Keep smoking those things
And life will kill ya!

Smiled & waved

Driving away

And then suddenly
I realized he looked & sounded
Exactly like Warren Zevon

And that the song playing
In his car was “I was in the house
when the house burned down”

So now
Sometimes I wonder
What they’re putting in
My tobacco these days

Warren had no comment

I went home
And took a nap

Confused
