AN AMERICAN STORY

It’s raining
An hard cold rain
Outside
The night much
Darker than usual

Because we all
Thought, believed that
Humanity was going
Somewhere

Somehow

To a better
Place

But the monsters in
The story showed back up
Again after they were
Defeated by all the heroes

Destroyed
The Kingdom

Destroyed it’s
Magic

Destroyed
It’s People

It’s Land

So
Like in any fantasy
Any epic tale we
All gathered together
Came together
As one

Gathered our
Weapons & shields

And prayed to
All the entities
Above

Looking for wisdom
Looking for truth

As all the traitors
Were hung

And the clouds
Were all red
Like the color
Of blood

And unlike in
All the stories
Of war & glory
Faith & love
Always winning

There was
Never a happy
Ending

Never a true
Tale of right
& wrong

Good or
Evil

And no
Dragons or
Gods even bothered
To intervene or
Save us

Just like
In this real
Cold & hopeless

World

Without hope
