   if we write poetry, we are poets — we can be poets to our very selves, at the very minimum. That is the beauty and democracy of poetry.

      Poetry in our time however tends to simply accept everything as poetry. Once being a poet meant something.
      If you are a poet then you are a writer. Not a rapper or a rock star. It’s time that poets get noticed again for their work
      and not get thrown in with the over-hyped media icons.
