    THE VICIOUS CYCLE

    Poets writing
    Writing poems
    Poems about writing
    Writing books
    Writing write ups
    Writing reviews
    About poets
    Whose books
    Never leave
    The Shelves

    Poets
    Talking flak
    About other
    Poets because
    In pretty pictures
    They look like
    They are actually
    Selling books

    (But they aren’t)

    But they
    Look damn good &
    Pretty

    And Pop-pu-lar

    Yes
    Poets

    Who are the
    Only ones
    Buying other
    Poets poetry
    About

    Poets writing
    Writing poems
    Poems about writing
    Writing books
    Writing write ups
    Writing reviews
    About poets
    Whose books
    Never leave
    The Shelves

    So what’s wrong
    With this picture?
    What’s wrong with
    Poetry? And what’s wrong
    With all the angry poets
    Poeticizing their angry
    Feelings ?

    Let’s blame Kindle
    Let’s blame Publishers
    Let’s blame God

    Because well,
    It’s just easier that
    Way and we all
    Know that God hates
    Poetry

    And that

  • Morning Meditations R.M. Engelhardt

JUSTICE is the want of a jailed man.

TRUTH is the want of a man who has always been given falsity.

HONOR is the result principled man.

CHARITY comes deepest from those who have sought it

    JOY comes from the saddened.

The WORDS of a LIAR are given freely, only trust those who have experienced the want rather then the desire.

FALSE PROPHETS, POLITICIANS and ANGELS come in bushels.

  • TRY THAT IN OUR BIG CITY YOU
    SMALL TOWN DICK

    Hey Jay

    I read the lyrics

    And well …

    I
    Laughed

    ALOT

    Because
    It seems that your song
    Is boring

    And badly written

    And nothing special

    At all.

    Nope.

    Nothing

    Worth our time

    Because
    You’re just like every other
    Racist and just
    The same as all those
    “Good ol’ boys”that
    Sired you & all those
    Pathetic assholes
That crawled out of the outhouse
    That came before
    Your self

    Your kind.

    All

    Weak

    Afraid

    &

    As dumb
    As those big pickup
    Trucks that you all
    Drive to make up
    For your very small

    “Dicks”

    Yep.

    That’s right

    Small

    (very)

    Little men
    & Narrow minded
    Never smart
    & Always thinking

    They’re “Right”

    As long as they have
    A mob with them and
    Outnumber
    All their victims

    Because, Well

    You see
    In these
    “Big ol’ cities”
    We all have & believe
    In people of all colors
    & Creeds. We believe in
    Real freedom & democracy
    Diversity
    And we all stand together
    And throw out the trash

    Like you

    & Your phony
    Wanna be a real
    Cowboy someday

    Friends

    And just like your sad
    Inbred
    & Proud little
    Mama’s boys

    Who secretly cry
    And wet their beds
    In private

    Afraid of change
    Afraid of the real world
    That’s here

    To stay

    That you
    Will never destroy

    Or change

    So ?

    That being all said?

    We suggest that you
    Keep your sorry asses
    Out of all our cities
& all of the small towns
    On the left

    Who we will all protect
    & defend

    Our flags
    Of all colors
    & even rainbows
    Flying high

    And undefeated

    So c’mon
    We’re all waiting
    For you

    Tough guy
    Wanna be

    And laughing
    Hysterically at your song

    Laughing at all the backward
    Primitives that you sing about
In your dull ass country boy
    Overused

    Tone

    So please :

For the sake of a nation
And in the interest of the
    Progress of all mankind?

    Do us all a favor
    And put that gun
    That yer Good Ol’ Grandad
    Gave you

    To your head

    And fire.

    Believe me

    You will not be missed.

  • Peter Reading ~ Poem

    This morning he scrawled one

    Haiku of no merit.

    This falling darkness:

that of which he is able is

    a failed Tanka only

  • SOMETHING DARK IS HERE

SOMETHING DARK IS HERESomething Dark is Here

    Something Dark is Here

    Some feel it

    Others don’t

    Some care

    Others won’t

    Something Dark is Here

    Everyday

    Everywhere

    &

    God ain’t listening
    God don’t care

    The news doesn’t
    Feel it, the press is
    Unaware

    And all the people are
    Making jokes

    About the
    Dead

    Yes.

    Something Dark is Here

I can feel it in my bones
As I stare across the room
    The street, the store
    At my neighbors
Who all look, dress the same
    Except for the fact that
    They have all secretly
    Become unfeeling and
    Uncaring
    Of all other human
    Beings except

    Themselves

    Laughing

    At the grieving of all
    Others like themselves

    Is life all a joke?

    Anyways?

    What
    Have we become?

    What
    Are we becoming?

    Dark

  • Is it Philosophy or Poetry?

    Is it Philosophy or Poetry?

We never seem to get it right
    Living in days of darkness
    Waiting for some light

    Still children

    Pretending to be adults

    Telling ourselves
    Everything will fix itself

    Is it Philosophy or Poetry?

    Don’t look to your leaders
They haven’t got a fucking clue

    They’re all to busy
    Playing the games of ego
    And not thinking about you

    Is it Philosophy or Poetry?

    Or maybe it’s both

But what should be taken as action
    By all the people themselves
    And more than merely words

  • BEATNIK OCCULTURE

    Are you watching?

Looking for the next big thing?

    Pick up a broom & a pen
    Better yet sacrifice a poem
    Over some smoke

    Become the ritual
    Become the poem

    Play some jazz
    Or goth

    And cast a spell
    For a whispering world

    Please throw in the word

    ” PEACE”

  • EDGAR

    Whilst thou write a

    “Happy Poem” today?

    Edgar’s wife says

    Smiling from her

    Chair

    Edgar’s eyes roll

    Slightly shakes his

    Head

    Edgar is too serious

    Edgar never slept

    And somewhere

    Off in the distance

    A raven poops on

    A child merrily

    Skipping down a

    Garden path

    Singing

    It is fit.

    EDGAR’S WIFE

    After Edgar’s wife

    Passed away they say

    He grieved

    So powerfully that

    God above cried along

    With him because his

    Words were more than

    God could

    Even take

    For

    Edgar invoked

    All of the world’s

    Melancholy & sadness

    Like an ocean of woe

    Never before seen

    With one single tear

    And a pen

    And the angels &

    Even the demons wept

    Knowing that his existence

    Had now changed the earth

    This world

    Forever

    EDGAR SOMETIMES

    Sometimes feels

    Like he’s going insane

    Broke without anyone

Left in this world keeps writing

    And writing and writing but

    Doesn’t Seem appreciated

    By other writers except for

    Baudelaire

    Will all this madness

Sadness ever end!? Edgar  asks, looks

Up to the heavens and cries

But doesn’t realize that the poem

Is the writer and the writer the poem

That the poem on a dark stormy night

    Is …. Himself

But Edgar sometimes surmises that his fate

Has already been decided and that old death

Is waiting for him in some dark alleyway

In a bad area of Baltimore . He feels it. He smells it .

Death, the conqueror of all.  Oh to be with her again,

Dancing under the blanket, the moon & stars

    Sometimes Edgar feels

    Like he’s going insane

    Broke without anyone

Left in this world keeps writing

    And writing and writing

    Until

    He is no more

    And has disappeared.

    Like a ghost

  • Throughout the night

We dream of all the places

    We might never see.

    Those are the dreams

    We follow, our souls

    Leading us to far away

    Lands

    Which perhaps

    In some other life

    We’ve been to before
